I'm building a travel lap steel. Likely will not add volume or tone know to keep it simple.
What do you recommend for an inexpensive pickup that is pretty versatile for different sounds (clean, dirty, etc.)?

Sentell pickups builds quality steel guitar pickups that are a great value. I really like their Tennesee Honey P90 style lap steel pickups

Guitar Fetish has a huge variety of six-string pickups, good value + low prices. I have used them for many guitar projects.

Thank you for the responses.
I emailed GFS and they have great service. They recommended a few including a Humbuckers sized on Calle the GFS Dream 180 for $30. I may go with that one.
