8 pin MIDI cable source?

Post by Jim Smith »

I've scoured the local electronic stores and searched the Internet for about an hour last night looking for these. I need two to connect my MIDI pickup to the IVL MIDI converter I just got. They're 8 pin DIN connectors but I have a feeling they must be called by another name as the closest I could find was 8 pin mini DIN. The connectores are the same size as regular 5 pin MIDI cables, just have 3 more pins. I'd like to find some in the 3-6' range but will take whatever I can find at this point. Help!

Jim,
A music store might have one, some lighting systems use them, Peavey also has them for the new controler to the Sesson 2000.
Hope this was some help..

Thanks David, however I just looked through Peavey's cable catalog online and didn't see anything other than 5 pin cables. I'll check the 2000 page and try to hit a music store at lunch.

Call Mike Brown at Peavey. They've got it. I use 50' of it to connect my PFC foot controller to a TubeFex, and to get it that long, I had to get the raw cable and make it. No loss, works great so you shouldn't have trouble getting 6 feet of it.

Mike Brown and Peavey were very helpful but only have 25' cables at $29.95 each while I need two at 6' each. I found a site on the Internet who's custom making the cables for me at $14.95 each plus about $7 shipping. Email me if you want the source.

I found what I needed, so you may close this thread.
[This message was edited by Jim Smith on 11 April 2000 at 03:32 PM.]
